JuniorNet Installation Instructions for Windows 2000 and Windows XP

If you have a broadband connection to the Internet, the quickest and easiest way to get started is to Download JuniorNet now!

For modem users, or if you wish to use the JuniorNet Version 3 installation CD, please follow these instructions in order to install JuniorNet on your Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer. If you are running on Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me, do NOT follow these instructions. Simply insert your JuniorNet CD-ROM and follow the on-screen instructions to install on Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me.

Sorry, JuniorNet does not support Windows NT or versions of Windows prior to Windows 95.

To install JuniorNet on Windows 2000 or Windows XP:

1. Insert the JuniorNet CD-ROM. After a few moments, the installation program on the CD-ROM should start. You should click "quit" immediately. You will not be able to install JuniorNet successfully using the installation program on the CD-ROM.
2. Click Here to download the JuniorNet installation program designed specially for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
2a. Internet Explorer users only: When the "File Download" dialog appears, select "Run this program from its current location" and click OK. Some browsers may generate a security warning that says "Authenticode signature not found." You should ignore this warning by clicking Yes.
2b. Netscape users only: You will be asked to choose a location to save the program. Once it's saved, run the program by double-clicking on its icon.
3. Once the installation program begins, simply follow the on-screen instructions to install JuniorNet.

Here are a few important things to know about our Windows 2000 / Windows XP installation program:
1. The installer will copy the entire contents of the JuniorNet CD-ROM to your computer's hard disk drive. When selecting an installation location, please be sure to choose a hard drive with at least 400 MB of free space. (The good news is, once it's installed you will not need to keep the CD-ROM in the drive to run JuniorNet.)
2. Because the entire CD-ROM is copied, the installation step (which features an animation of Clik leaping from a CD into a computer) can take up to 10 full minutes or more on some computers. Please allow sufficient time for the installation to finish.
3. After the copying step is done, you'll be told you need to restart your computer. In fact, improvements to Windows 2000 and Windows XP make restarting unnecessary. Therefore, when you click the "restart" button, you will simply be taken to the next step in the installation.
